Bernama: KakaoTalk Rolls Out Upgraded Version Of Messaging Application
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 (Bernama) — KakaoTalk, a global mobile messenger with more than 110 million users worldwide, rolled out its freshly upgraded version 4.0.0 of its messaging application packaged for a revamped look and performance improvement, bringing it to three updates in a week.
The South Korea-based Kakao Corp brought a fresh makeover with renewed designs, features and brand identity in line with its service philosophy of developing and evolving continuously with users at the core.
Kate Sohn, Vice-President, Global Business Development of Kakao Corp, said it focused on enhancing usability and discoverability of key features in KakaoTalk as well as user convenience through subtle but meaningful changes.
“With the extra emphasis on brand identity, we hope it will help users discover useful features in a quicker and more convenient manner,” he said in a statement.
The 4.0 version, available now on Google Play, provides users with easier interface to start chatting and receive calls using hilarious voice filters, since it brings out menus that were previously accessed through the Android hard key buttons to the screen area, giving a more uniform experience for both Android and iOS users.
Sohn said Kakao would continue to develop its service in the forefront of the evolving smartphone user environment and design trends.
Adding to greater accessibility, the new features include users greeted with a new splash screen upon upgrade, options such as “notification”, “invite”, “leave” and “setting” in chat rooms replicated to a soft key menu, while in “chats” tab, a floating icon has been added to end the session, a location sharing feature and Yellow, KakaoTalk’s representative colour, being more visible across the service.
Following the Android version, KakaoTalk for iOS (currently v.3.6.9) will be upgraded to v.4.0 within the year.
